Let's Become Sexually Healthy Muslims!

Baru-baru ni, pada petang Ahad 12 Julai, Dr. Har berpeluang menyampaikan a short talk on Muslim Youths & sexuality di Auditorium Utama, Akademi Pengajian Islam UM, sempena Knowledge & Arts Tour 2009 - anjuran Young Muslim Project (YMP).

Audiences - around 200 people - mostly youths aged 16 - 25. Some parents pun ada juga. Fikir punya fikir, I decided to come up with this catchy title : ` Let's Become Sexually Healthy Muslim Youths!'. Nampak ramai gak muka surprised para hadirin. However, being Dr.Har - yang dah dikenal ramai memang asyik bercakap mengenai aspek reproduksi dan kesihatan seksual ni esp remaja, tak hairanlah kan! My main intention is to put the discussion on sexuality back on its rightful respected postition in a human's life. Not as some cheap crap, mostly flavoured by pure lust and physical gratification only!

My second slide in the presentation indicated the main objective for the talk - To guide Muslim youths to be sexually healthy, so they could assist and facillitate their friends ( Muslims & non-Muslims) to be sexually healthy too! Then, I asked the crowd for a commitment : `Will you all help me achieve this simple objective?' As usual, Malaysian crowds are well-known to be lukewarm ( if not icy cold at times) - hardly anyone responded. So I said, well since you all are not quite enthusiastic with the topic, why should I continue, yah? So once again, Can you help me achieve this very important objective? Aha, lepas tu a very loud YESSSS bergema dalam auditorium tu. Barulah ada semangat nak proceed!

In summary, we should be serious to propagate Islam as a way of life that addresses all matters on human sexuality , in a very balance perspective - between traditional conservative views that look at sex as something impure, dirty and low, hence celibacy is the utmost purest way of human life and the ultra -liberal that stands for full expression of sexual desire, without any limits and boundaries.

Need to know, anyone out there wants me to elaborate on this topic? Show of hands, please. Kalau ramai yang respon, mahu Dr.Har share most of the points in the talk, I will comply in the next posting, InsyaAllah.
